This is a project I started to capture a time gone by, a loved one’s favourite things, personal obsessions or latest musings. It’s not designed to make you feel sad or lost in past experiences, instead enjoy those memories and belongings like a still life but in a modern context to suit the visual culture you live in right now.
My Nan played an important role in fostering my creativity from an early age. She continued to support my artistic journey right up until she passed away at the grand old age of 94. She guided me to hand stitch my first button on a piece of red felt at 2.5 years old. I can remember using her painting studio to curate exhibitions of a ridiculous number of paintings, and sketches I had completed in a day from around the age of 4.
Since launching this project I have developed a range of custom prints for some very special people and digitally printed a beautiful eco-friendly cotton and linen blend fabric metre ready for their own sewing projects.
Individuals participating in the project provide me with either one key object/element or 4 to 8 motifs as inspiration for a New Nostalgia print and suggested colours.
This is an ongoing project so if you would like to be involved please send me an email at email@example.com and let’s chat!
